Trailer Round-Up: Miles Morales & LEGO Star Wars Kick Off the Holiday Season

November 2020 is definitely off to a momentous start, even as entertainment news falls a bit on the backburner. Still, there has been plenty of trailers and promos to kick off 2020's penultimate month for ongoing television series, upcoming movie premieres and video game launches that will kick of the holiday season.

Here are all the biggest trailers, teasers and promos from the first week of November 2020.

Beastars

One of the most popular anime series available to stream on Netflix is Beastars, adapting the manga title created by Paru Itagaki. The series returns for a second season in Japan in January 2021, with a trailer revisiting the series' world of anthropomorphic carnivores and herbivores seeing renewed tensions after a bloody murder in their midst. This fresh look at the series also debuts the upcoming season's new theme song, "Kaibutsu (Monster)" by Yoasobi.

Based on the manga series of the same name by Paru Itagaki, Beastars Season 1 is available to stream on Netflix. Season 2 premieres in Japan on Jan. 5, 2021, with an international release date currently unknown.

Disney+

To mark the start of November, Disney+ offered a sizzle reel of what subscribers can expect arriving on the premium streaming service throughout the month. In addition to new episodes of The Mandalorian and The Right Stuff, November also sees the premiere of the documentary series Marvel's 616. Conspicuously absent is the confirmed premiere of WandaVision, which rumors from alleged data mines suggested would premiere by the end of the month.

Gotham Knights

With the upcoming Gotham Knights video game having the Bat Family step up to defend Gotham City after the apparent death of Batman, Nightwing is leading the charge with his assets. A new promo for the game has Dick Grayson take center stage, showing off his acrobatic moves with a heightened focus on his well-forms gluts as he dispenses justice.

Developed by WB Games Montréal, Gotham Knights is scheduled to release in 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.

The Great North

Fox's animation block is about to get bigger in 2021, with the new series The Great North. Developed by Bob's Burgers creator Loren Bouchard, the animated series follows a single father struggling to raise his children in Alaska. As Beef Tobin provides for his family as a local fisherman, his daughter Judy sets her sights on her dreams, taking her to the shopping mall as an aspiring artist.

The Great North is set to premiere February 2021 on Fox. The animated series stars Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate, Megan Mullally and Will Forte.

LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special

The characters from the Star Wars sequel trilogy are about to venture into the franchise's past in this month's LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special. As the Resistance prepares to celebrate Life Day, Rey discovers a device that allows her to travel through time, revisiting moments from the original and prequel trilogies before meeting with The Mandalorian's Baby Yoda. Meanwhile, Emperor Palpatine seeks to steal the device to change history for himself.

Directed by Ken Cunningham and written by David Shayne, The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special stars Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), as well as Star Wars: The Clone Wars vets Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), Tom Kane (Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn), James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Dee Bradley Baker (clone troopers). The film is scheduled to premiere Nov. 17 on Disney+.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate

Mortal Kombat 11 is about to go Ultimate later this month, with the next expansion including new fighters and alternate costumes for the popular fighting game. Among the new playable characters joining the fray is Mileena, the genetically engineered evil twin of Princess Kitana. A gameplay trailer has the voracious warrior resurface, confronting her sister before settling an old score with Kotal Khan and D'Vorah established in 2015's Mortal Kombat X.

Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia. The Kombat Pack 2 expansion and Ultimate bundle will be released Nov. 17.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

The wait is nearly over for the eagerly anticipated PlayStation 5's launch, with Spider-Man: Miles Morales one of the most prominent titles released alongside the next-gen console. The latest television spot for the upcoming video game has Miles outnumbered by electrically upgraded enemies in the snowbound streets of Manhattan. Undeterred, Miles cues up some inspirational music before he begins the fight anew, unleashing some super-powered tricks of his own.

Developed by Insomniac Games and PlayStation Studios, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on Nov. 12.

Supernatural

After fifteen years, Supernatural is finally coming to an end this month, marking the last of Sam and Dean Winchester's paranormal adventures. An extended trailer for the upcoming series finale features a recap of the brothers' various battles against the forces of darkness. As the final showdown against God is teased, series stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki thank the fans for fifteen seasons of support and love as they bring the show to a close.

Starring Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins and Alexander Calvert, the final episodes of Supernatural air Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

Vanguard

International action superstar Jackie Chan is taking on another high-octane role in the upcoming film Vanguard. Chan will star as a prominent member of the action movie's eponymous team of elite private security operatives as they are tasked with protecting an accountant targeted by deadly mercenaries. The American trailer for the movie showcases its global scope, with filming locations in Asia, Africa and Europe as Chan leads his team to protect their client at all costs.

Written and directed by Stanley Tong, Vanguard stars Jackie Chan. The film will release in select theaters on Nov. 20.

Walker

While Supernatural may be coming to an end, Padalecki is keeping things on The CW as he stars and executive produces another series launching on the network this January, with a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger. A teaser trailer for the series shows the iconic lawman's badge thrown into a wall as Padalecki's character realized that he's placed duty ahead of family.

Walker stars Jared Padalecki, Lindsey Morgan, Keegan Allen, Mitch Pileggi, Molly Hagan and Coby Bell. It premieres Jan. 21, 2021 on The CW.

Willy's Wonderland

Nicolas Cage's latest flick appears to take a page from the popular Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, with next year's horror movie Willy's Wonderland. Cage portrays a drifter who's hired as an overnight janitor at an abandoned family entertainment center only to discover that the animatronic attractions come to life after dark as they try to kill him.

Directed by Kevin Lewis from a screenplay by G.O. Parsons, Willy's Wonderland stars Nicolas Cage, Emily Tosta, Beth Grant, Caylee Cowan and Ric Reitz. The film is slated for release in 2021.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds

The video game WWE 2K Battlegrounds is about to add several fan-favorite WWE Superstars to its playable roster in the weeks to come. The title has announced the first ten downloadable characters coming to the roster, with Goldberg, Batista and Trish Stratus among the first wave. There are plans for 63 DLC characters in all, with newer Superstars joining the ranks of classic professional wrestlers, including "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.

Developed by Saber Interactive, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is patterned after NBA Playgrounds as a fast-paced, arcade-style gaming experience. It is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
