With a whole host of new shows, movies and video games on the horizon, the first week of October has kicked off with a massive wave of trailers.
Here are all the biggest trailers, teasers and promos from the first week of October 2020.
Apex Legends
The popular online competitive shooter Apex Legends has launched its sixth season, which adds crossplay functionality, thus allowing players to compete against one another from different platforms. The trailer teases new gear for players as they battle across the colorful arenas in frantic gameplay, with items offered during the cross-platform beta only available for a limited time.
Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, Apex Legends is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with a Nintendo Switch version slated for a late 2020 release.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla
With the Ubisoft franchise moving to Northern Europe, the latest trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla explores the upcoming video game's story. Following the Viking warrior Eivor during the ninth century, the Vikings begin to raid and colonize Britain where they encounter heavy resistance from the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms throughout the English countryside. As Eivor faces the onslaught of the Templar Order, he is approached by the Brotherhood of Assassins to help turn the tide of battle.
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be released on Nov. 10 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Google Stadia. The PlayStation 5 version will be released on Nov. 12.
Bad Hair
Hulu is bringing audiences a bad day straight from Hell in its upcoming original horror comedy film Bad Hair. Helmed by Dear White People's Justin Simien and boasting an all-star cast, the movie as a young executive assistant named Anna do whatever it takes to climb the corporate ladder in the music industry. After receiving demonic hair implants to better standout amongst her peers, Anna quickly discovers her new hair comes with a very dark price.
Written, directed and produced by Justin Simien, Bad Hair stars Elle Lorraine, Vanessa Williams, Lena Waithe, Laverne Cox, Jay Pharaoh, Kelly Rowland, Blair Underwood, James Van Der Beek and Usher Raymond IV. The film will be released Oct. 23 on Hulu.
Borat 2
Fourteen years after Borat had movie audiences rolling in the aisles with laughter and doing impressions of the fictional Kazakhstani, filmmaker Sacha Baron Cohen is reprising his iconic role just in time for the American presidential election. The Amazon Prime original sequel to the original film has Borat disgraced for his previous documentary and returns to the United States in an attempt offer his daughter to Vice President Mike Pence and honor the Trump Administration, with plenty of ambush interviews and candid camera moments like the original film.
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bride to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan is written by Sacha Baron Cohen, Anthony Hines, Dan Swimer, Peter Baynham, Erica Rivinoja, Dan Mazer, Jena Friedman and Lee Kern, with a story by Cohen, Hines, Swimer and Nina Pedrad. The film arrives on Amazon Prime Video Oct. 23.

Tensions and epic betrayals rock The Seven in the latest promo for The Boys. As Homelander and Stormfront's bad romance continues to blossom, the sociopathic superhero introduces his new lady love to the son he secretly fathered with Billy Butcher's wife Rebecca. Meanwhile, Starlight faces the wrath of Homelander after he brands his teammate a traitor for siding with The Boys, leading Hughie to approach Lamplighter for help in protecting her from the supe's fury.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone
The sixth season of DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its online multiplayer counterpart Call of Duty: Warzone has officially launched. Set in the fictional Eastern European city of Verdansk, the new season brings active mass transit systems to the battlefield as well as greater emphasis on vehicles.
Developed by Infinity War and published by Activision, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Cobra Kai
Over a month since the first two seasons debuted on Netflix, the acclaimed Karate Kid revival series Cobra Kai has officially announced the third season premiere date with a new teaser trailer. Exploring the fallout of Season 2 climactic, high school brawl, the trailer shows rivals Hawk and Robby now in a correctional facility. As Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence grapple with the consequences of drawing a new generation into their feud, Miguel is seen waking from the grievous injuries he got in his fight against Robby.
Cobra Kai stars William Zabka, Ralph Macchio, Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Peyton List and Martin Kove. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Netflix. Season 3 premieres on Jan. 8, 2021.
The Craft: Legacy
One of the biggest cult horror movies from the 90s is The Craft, with the film receiving a revival 24 years after the original just in time for Halloween. Coming straight to home video, The Craft: Legacy is both a sequel and reimagining of the 1996 movie as a new coven of witches is formed between outcast high school girls before they gradually discover the dark consequences of their dabbling in black magic.
Written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones, The Craft: Legacy stars Michelle Monaghan, David Duchovny, Cailee Spaeny, Gideon Adlon, Lovie Simone, Zoey Luna, and Nicholas Galitzine. Blumhouse's remake/sequel of The Craft will be available to buy or rent Oct. 27 on Amazon Prime Video.
Cyberpunk 2077
Keanu Reeves is front and center in the latest teaser trailer for the upcoming video game Cyberpunk 2077, encouraging players to embrace their lawless side. Interspersed with gameplay clips of mercenaries carousing around the neon-soaked Night City with a pulsating soundtrack soaring, Reeves urges players to "seize the day and set it on fire." The fan-favorite actor is set to appear in the game as the mysterious Johnny Silverhand.
Developed by CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC Nov. 19, and the game will also be available for the upcoming Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
Frank & Zed
Horror takes on puppet form in the upcoming horror movie Frank & Zed by filmmaker Jesse Blanchard. Running as part of a set of cross-country digital horror festivals just in time for Halloween, the movie was a labor of love for Blanchard who spent the past seven years developing the film, with two successful Kickstarter campaigns helping bring the project to life.
Written and directed by Jesse Blanchard, Frank & Zed will premiere at Nightstream, which runs from Oct. 8-11 on nightstream.org.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
One of Nintendo's most anticipated games in the coming months is Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, a prequel to the universally acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The latest trailer puts the spotlight on the game's new playable characters, with Mipha, Daruk, Urbosa and Revali the Rito each shown unveiling their devastating attacks against the forces of Calamity Ganon. Gameplay footage released during the Tokyo Game Show confirmed Impa would also be available as a playable character to help Link and Zelda on their latest quest.
Developed by Koei Tecmo Games and Omega Force and published by Nintendo, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will be released Nov. 20 for the Nintendo Switch.
The Last Kids on Earth
Netflix's animated adaptation of Max Brallier's bestselling book series The Last Kids on Earth is coming back this month for a third season of monstrous mayhem. Following a group of freewheeling kids in the aftermath of a monster apocalypse, Season 3 has Jack Sullivan and his fellow middle schoolers take on new creatures that go bump in the night.
Developed by Atomic Cartoons, The Last Kids on Earth is executive produced by Scott Peterson, Max Brallier, Jennifer McCarron and Matthew Berkowitz. It stars Nick Wolfhard (Jack Sullivan), Garland Whitt (Quint Baker), Montse Hernandez (June Del Toro), Charles Demers (Dirk Savage), Catherine O’Hara (Skaelka), Bruce Campbell (Chef Monster), Mark Hamill (Bardle) and Rosario Dawson (Rezzoch). Season 3 premieres Friday, Oct. 16 on Netflix.
Lupin III: The First
The award-winning CG animated film Lupin III: The First is finally coming to North American cinemas nearly a full year after its premiere in Japan, with a limited theatrical release for two nights only. The dubbed release features the English-language voice cast from the previous anime series reprising their roles as the master thief Arsene Lupin goes on a globe-trotting caper to recover an artifact that had eluded his grandfather decades prior, staying one step ahead of nefarious forces.
Written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the English voice cast for Lupin III: The First includes Tony Oliver, Richard Epcar, Lex Lang, Michelle Ruff and Doug Erholtz. The film will be screened in select theaters on Oct. 18 and Oct. 21, with a home video release set for this December.
Marvel's 616
Disney+'s upcoming documentary series Marvel's 616 shows the everyday impact of Marvel Comics on society, from the writers and artists that tirelessly craft new characters and tales for the venerable comic book publisher to cosplayers that channel the company's colorful icons in tangible labors of love. The series is set to run for eight episodes, each focusing on different elements of the company's far-reaching influence and history.
Produced by Marvel New Media with Supper Club, Marvel's 616 premieres this fall on Disney+.
Noblesse
Crunchyroll continues to tease its lineup of original anime programming for the end of 2020, led by its upcoming adaptation of the popular manhwa series Noblesse. Following a vampire named Raizel who awakens after hibernating for over 800 years, the series has the undead warrior enroll in a South Korean high school. As Raizel acclimates to modern-day Seoul and the trials and tribulations of high school, he finds himself defending his newfound friends from supernatural threats.
Based on the manhwa of the same name by Son Jeho and Lee Kwangsu, Noblesse is directed by Yasutaka Yamamoto and premieres on Crunchyroll on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story
For much of the '90s, Nickelodeon was the national leader in popular children's television programming on basic cable. The channel's heyday is explored in the upcoming documentary film The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story, from a look behind-the-scenes at the cable network's meteoric rise to exclusive interviews with the television stars that helped endear the network to millions of fans worldwide.
The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story was directed by Scott Barber and Adam Sweeney and will feature iconic Nickelodeon child actors such as Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Drake Bell, Melissa John Hart, Christine Taylor and Tom Kenny. It will premiere on-demand on Nov. 17, 2020.
Pandora
The CW's ambitious science fiction series Pandora returns for its second season this month as its characters brace for destruction on a universal scale. The teaser trailer for Season 2 showcases a variety of worlds explored by the characters, from a planet inspired by the Wild West to an asteroid modified to support human life. With the fate of the universe at stake, protagonist Jax must act quickly if she hopes to save all of reality.
The CW's Pandora stars Priscilla Quintana as Jax, Oliver Dench as Xander Duvall, Ben Radcliffe as Ralen, Banita Sandhu as Delaney Pilar, Noah Huntley as Professor Donovan Osborn and Vikash Bhai as Professor Martin Shral. Season 2 premieres on The CW on Oct. 4.

The next Power Rangers series is coming next year with Power Rangers: Dino Fury. The teaser trailer showcased a new team of Power Rangers in action. As Earth is faced by alien invaders determined to seize the power of the Morphin Grid, the latest iteration of the sentai team unveil their new costumes and weapons before taking to their MegaZords reflecting the upcoming series emphasis on prehistoric Dino Fury to save the day.
Power Rangers: Dino Fury will premiere in 2021 on Nickelodeon. Power Rangers: Beast Morphers currently airs on Saturdays at 8 a.m. ET/PT.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness
Netflix has provided a first look at its upcoming CG animated adaptation of Capcom's iconic Resident Evil franchise, with a teaser trailer for Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. The trailer has longtime protagonist Claire Redfield explore an abandoned house before a zombie is seen menacing Leon S. Kennedy. Netflix has since confirmed that the series will take place three years after the events of the CG animated movie Resident Evil: Vendetta.
Produced by TMS Entertainment and Quebico, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will premiere in 2021 on Netflix.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has finally announced its second playable character for Fighter Pass Vol. 2 with characters from Minecraft, the best selling game of all time, officially joining the fray. A trailer showed Mario being knocked into the blocky Minecraft world where he was blown to smithereens by Steve before gameplay unveiled Steve, Alex, Zombie and Enderman in action. Game director Masahiro Sakurai teased additional details about the characters' inclusion in the popular fighting game set for Oct. 3.

Transformers: War for Cybertron - Earthrise
The second installment of Netflix and Rooster Teeth's CG animated Transformers trilogy is coming soon, heralded by the first trailer for Transformers: War for Cybertron - Earthrise. The follow-up to War for Cybertron - Siege, the teaser trailer has Optimus Prime and the Autobots awaken from their interstellar slumber after fleeing their home planet. As the Autobots regain their senses and acclimate to their new surroundings, they find themselves stalked by Transformer hunters.

Just in time for next year's Jurassic World: Dominion, Universal Studios Orlando is updating its Jurassic Park section of the theme park with a new rollercoaster dubbed the Jurassic World VelociCoaster. The theme park released a teaser trailer for the upcoming attraction, with a conceptual rendering of the ride in action, interspersed with clips from 2015's Jurassic World, as the video showed guests experiencing its fast-paced, dino-inspired thrills.
The Jurassic World VelociCoaster will open Summer 2021.

Just as marked its 60th anniversary during the Tokyo Game Show, the venerable video game publisher has unveiled a teaser trailer reviving one of its oldest franchises Virtua Fighter. The brief promo showed the game being reimagined for the fighting game esports crowd as its mainstay character Akira is seen approaching an arena to bring the franchise to a new generation.
Developed by Sega, more details about the Virtua Fighter will be revealed at a later date.
The Witches
The beloved cinematic adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic story The Witches is moving to HBO Max instead of its previously planned theatrical release this month. Set in 1967, a young boy moves to a small Alabama town to live with his grandmother. As the two encounter a coven of witches convening for a magical conference, the Grand High Witch curses the boy to take on the form of a mouse as he and his grandmother scramble to thwart the coven's nefarious plans.
Written and directed by Robert Zemeckis, The Witches stars Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Chris Rock, Jahzir Kadeem Bruno, Stanley Tucci, Kristin Chenoweth and Codie-Lei Eastick. The film arrives on HBO Max Oct. 22.
Wolfman's Got Nards
One of the most beloved cult classics from the 1980s is the comedy horror film The Monster Squad, following a group of young misfits with a mutual love of classic monster movies before facing Count Dracula and his sinister allies. While a commercial flop upon its initial release in 1987, the film has developed a dedicated fan following in the decades that followed, with its fanbase and the movie's impact explored in the documentary film Wolfman's Got Nards. The documentary features exclusive interviews with the film's cast and crew as well as notable fans.
Directed and produced by Andre Gower, Wolfman's Got Nards will be released Oct. 27 on blu-ray and digital HD.

Discontinued since its inaugural season in 2001, the XFL had returned with Vince McMahon at the helm at the beginning of the year before shutting down five weeks into its revival season this past March. After the XFL filed for bankruptcy, Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia acquired the football league this past August. Johnson and Garcia have since released trailer hyping the league's return for a new season in 2022, with the owners promising an epic revival nationwide.
The next season of the XFL is scheduled to resume in spring 2022.
