Funimation will be holding a virtual anime convention dubbed Funimation Con July 3-4 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
"FunimationCon is a chance for us to give back to a community which has supported us for over 25 years by re-imagining the convention experience," Funimation General Manager Colin Decker said in a statement. "With so many anime events being canceled this year, we’re jumping in to fill the gap with a new way for fans to come together and enjoy some great content and experiences."
FunimationCon will host a wide range of artists and entertainers and a full lineup of convention-style events such as panels and Q&As, and it will be available to streamers online in both the United States and Canada.
This event comes at an opportune time for the anime distributing company, which recently released the box office hit My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising and the special 30th-anniversary collector’s edition of Dragon Ball Z. The company also added 24 new anime titles to its streaming service.
Information on FunimationCon is developing, and updates can be found on the Funimation website. The hashtag #funimationcon is also being used to keep fans up-to-date.
