Celebrated UK producer James Hurr has officially made his debut on FLAMENCA Records with the release of his latest single, 'Gitanita.' This track marks his second collaboration with label boss STBAN, following their successful partnership on 'El Camino,' which saw a release on Toolroom Records late last year.
'Gitanita'—a title translating to “gypsy” in Spanish—reunites the creative team with the renowned Flamenco singer Sandra Carrasco and the pioneering guitarist Josemi Carmona. The composition is a masterclass in genre-blending; Carmona’s intricate, undulating guitar rhythms provide a soft, organic shuffle against a backdrop of sharp, Iberic-style percussion. Carrasco’s evocative vocal performance adds a layer of emotional tension, resulting in a delicate yet driving track that bridges the gap between traditional flamenco heritage and the high-energy demands of the modern dance floor.
Reflecting on the creative process, James Hurr noted, "Collaborating with STBAN has been an exciting musical challenge, taking me away from my comfort zone and into the modal world of flamenco music. There’s something dark and mysterious in STBAN’s music that works perfectly with driving club beats."
STBAN echoed this sentiment, expressing his enthusiasm for the partnership: "I’m delighted to be working again with James, and to have him officially releasing on the FLAMENCA Records label after our Toolroom collaboration is the icing on the cake. Once again, we’ve co-created a beautiful fusion between the worlds of flamenco and electronic music."
