Introducing secretive West African electronic production and performance trio LAGOS IN PARIS with their debut single ‘MALI SPIRIT’ out on February 21 via BLZ, Inside Records and Believe. A bold statement of their genre-defying artistry, the new Lagos In Paris single ‘Mali Spirit’ blends organic instrumentation, Mandingo guitars, hypnotic vocal loops, and deep house-inspired basslines, resulting in an infectious and immersive electronic sound with lush West African music sensibilities. Born out of years of collaboration with global stars like Aya Nakamura, Runtown, Mayra Andrade, and Sidiki Diabaté, Lagos In Paris crafts a sonic bridge between West Africa and the global electronic scene, seamlessly fusing the richness of traditional African music with the pulse of contemporary club culture.
Held together by its deep cultural storytelling, and an infectious groove that transcends borders, ‘Mali Spirit’ creates a mesmerizing listening experience that pays homage to the Bolo Super, an 18th-century traditional dance from the Kroumen tribe of Ivory Coast and Liberia that is still practiced today. The song’s accompanying music video, filmed in Abidjan, is a stunning visual representation of this heritage, featuring two dancers reinterpreting the choreography across the city’s landscapes in a visually arresting performance. Designed to connect heritage with contemporary culture, the video captures the authenticity and raw essence of African dance, while embracing its shareability, making it both a tribute and an invitation for global dance communities to engage with the movement.

Lagos In Paris is an exciting new movement, and an evolving sonic journey. With no fixed studio, the trio embodies the spirit of ‘Afraw’ electronic music, a self-coined term that reflects their blend of house, techno, amapiano and electronica, with afrobeats, dancehall, funk, disco, and reggae music. Their creative process is deeply nomadic, shaped by their travels and collaborations across Mali, Guinea, Senegal, France, Germany, and South Africa, bringing an unfiltered authenticity to their sound. As they prepare for their forthcoming debut EP arriving in September 2025, ‘Mali Spirit’ stands as a bold introduction to the boundary-pushing artistry of Lagos In Paris, and an invitation to experience the limitless possibilities of electronic music with West African sensibilities at its finest.
