Street Fighter 6 has revealed Guile as an upcoming character added to the roaster.
Summer Game Fest kicked off with a reveal of Street Fighters 6 gameplay footage showing the classic character. "Guile returns in Street Fighter 6 when it lands in 2023," teased the trailer description. "He went home to become a family man, but now a new mission awaits. Guile’s move set in Street Fighter 6 combines his signature moves with fresh additions. He is one powerhouse of a character who retains his ability to keep opponents at a distance."
Guile was previously seemingly confirmed in a recent leak, which revealed most of the Street Fighter 6 roaster. The trailer showcased many of Guile's iconic moves such as Flash Kick, Sonic Boom, Sonic Blade, Sonic Hurricane, Solid Puncher and a brand new Super Art move, Crossfire Somersault which is an aerial slash followed by a Somersault Kick. Besides his traditional moves and classic blond flat-top haircut, Guile boasts a brand-new outfit -- denim overals with a sort of white sweatshirt underneath and the sleeves rolled up to show his massive arms.
Street Fighter 6 accounced the upcoming release in a trailer during PlayStation's recent State of play. "Street Fighter 6, the next game in the iconic series, will release in 2023," announced the trailer description. "Take part in the Fighting Ground, which focuses on the classic fighting game experience with modes from previous games in the series. Two new modes will be available alongside: World Tour, an immersive single-player story experience, and Battle Hub, which will further expand the scope of player communication and engagement. Your Moment. Your Fight."
The latest entry in the Street Fighter series was announced in February 2022 with a teaser trailer that hinted at the game's improved style and graphics. It came after a countdown on the Street Fighter website concluded after days of teasing some form of announcement. Although it showed no gameplay, the trailer's detailed character models excited fans who hoped it meant improvements in design for the new release. The trailer arrives in the year of Street Fighter's 35th anniversary, which was also marked by the release of Capcom Fighting Collection. One of the most beloved long-term game franchises of all time, Street Fighter even inspired a live-action film that has become a cult classic.
Street Fighter 6 will launch sometime in 2023 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
