She-Hulk: Attorney At Law will seemingly focus on a genre that Marvel has touched on in all of its films but never used as a foundation for a series: comedy. But in this series, audiences will see the courtroom drama and humor synonymous with Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) and her alter-ego, The Sensational She-Hulk. In each episode, the jade hero will encounter new cases and characters that will likely explore aspects of herself and the world around her. But being tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there will likely be larger implications to the world hiding right under the audience's noses. One example may have already been teased in the show's first trailer.
During She-Hulk: Attorney At Law's latest trailer, a building was shown that seemed to hold Emil Blonsky, aka The Abomination. In the scene, he's meeting with Walters, likely in regards to a superhuman case. However, the building shown is new to the MCU. According to a video breakdown by New Rockstars, the location could be the gamma holding facility The Cube, which was a black site location run by S.H.I.E.L.D. However, in later years, it became the main base for the super team The Thunderbolts, which may be the building's purpose in She-Hulk.
In the comics, The Thunderbolts were a team created by Baron Zemo, made up of villains disguised as heroes. However, once their real identities were outed, some stayed on as heroes and organized a new team that operated as villains looking to reform themselves. In the MCU, a group such as them has yet to be introduced, but it's slowly introduced many characters who could come together as such. Some of the most prominent inclusions appear to be Zemo, who's in custody, and Abomination, who was shown possibly training with Wong in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Therefore, Jennifer may be negotiating the terms of Blonsky's release as a government agent working under strict rules with The Thunderbolts.
The most obvious choice for who could be leading The Thunderbolts may be Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who has been working on the sidelines, hiring US Agent and Yelena Belova to work for her. As a result, it's possible that she would have these two individuals operate as the only straight-laced members of the team to keep the other members in line. Nevertheless, it's possible that Walters may unwittingly help sanction this deadly team that could one day go head to head with a new iteration of the Avengers. Furthermore, should she join said new Avengers, she would have to face a team she helped create.
There's also the possibility that this team could eventually go more public as an amalgamation of the Dark Avengers and Thunderbolts. Perhaps they'd already done missions as the Thunderbolts during The Blip, but now, with humanity back to normal, it may be time for them to be more in the public eye. As a result, these characters could be set up in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law to be the world's premier superhero team.
For now, there's much that would need to be ironed out and introduced before more concrete evidence could be given that The Thunderbolts are indeed coming to the MCU. But for now, as more signs point in that direction, it's hard not to acknowledge the possibility. Plus, with the thread having been laid out as early as Shang-Chi, it would be almost necessary to show some form of payoff in the near future. But most importantly, it would be exciting to see the piece come together, whether in a courtroom comedy series or a more serious one over the coming months.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law arrives on Disney+ on Aug. 17.
