The Boys star Chace Crawford, who portrays The Deep in the Prime Video series, recounted the experience of filming with his special prop during Season 3's long-awaited "Herogasm" episode.
In an interview with CBR, Crawford was asked about how he responded when he first saw the week-long superhero orgy in the script and his reaction to the special prop he required in particular. "Oh god, the special prop I would get. I didn't know what kind of special prop it was going to be," he said. "That's what happened when I read the script. 'How are we going to do this? What is the logistics of doing this?'"
He continued, "I haven't even seen it yet. It's going to be interesting. The prop weighed a lot more than it looked like it was going to weigh. It was like a necklace, basically, but it was a lot. I basically thought the scene from Episode 3 was it. I was like, 'Oh, they can't go further than this.' Then it goes further than that."
Apart from the highly-anticipated "Herogasm" storyline, Crawford has previously joked that he was worried the entire third season might be "weird" enough to affect his acting career. "Herogasm," the sixth episode of The Boys' third season, will adapt the six-issue comic miniseries, The Boys: Herogasm, by The Boys creators Garth Ennis and John McCrea, which saw the titular group infiltrate a secret, week-long orgy hosted by Vought International for Earth's superheroes.
In a recent interview with CBR, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke noted that while pulling off a "Herogasm" episode was no easy feat, he was ultimately "thrilled" with the outcome. "It came off exactly the way I wanted it to," he said. "One of our executives at Sony said to me, 'Not only is this my favorite of The Boys, this is my favorite episode of television.' To hit that goal on something that is that filthy and weird is great."
Even Antony Starr, who portrays the villainous supe Homelander in the series, said that he will likely refuse to watch the "Herogasm" episode entirely. "I know that the fans of the comic were very interested to see that," Starr said. "I'm kind of a prude, so I think I'm going to fast-forward through that." However, despite the general sexual depravity in store for Season 3, Episode 6, Kripke has teased that fans can expect "several genuinely emotional, heartbreaking scenes" as well.
Seasons 1 and 2 of The Boys are available to stream now on Prime Video. New episodes of Season 3 air every Thursday on Prime Video.
