Warning: The following contains spoilers for the second episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Star Wars veteran Temuera Morrison recently revealed a weird fact about his Obi-Wan Kenobi cameo.
Morrison confirmed that the Disney+ series marked the first time he ever wore a physical suit of clone trooper armor, in an interview with IGN. "For [Attack of the Clones] I remember [Star Wars creator] George [Lucas] telling some of the special effects guys, 'Well, if [the clones] took their helmet off and they're all in the background, well they've got to look like [Morrison] as part of the clone army,'" he explained. "So it was quite funny how they'd use the outtakes... and they'd take that little moment and stick it on one of the [all-CGI] clone bodies and take another little moment [and do the same with another CGI clone body]... the only time I got to wear [physical clone trooper armor] was in that little [Obi-Wan Kenobi] cameo appearance."
Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow recently teased that the show will feature even more legacy Star Wars character cameos throughout its remaining episodes. Chow argued that these fleeting appearances were in keeping with the saga's long-running tradition of featuring Easter eggs and other callbacks to established canon. At the same time, she insisted that the decision-making process behind every cameo in Obi-Wan Kenobi is character-driven, and not done just for the sake of it.
One cameo many fans continue to speculate about is the potential return of Emperor Palpatine. Cryptic remarks by actor Ian McDiarmid make it unclear whether the Sith Lord will appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and if so, whether he will appear via a hologram or some other kind of non-physical performance. However, McDiarmid could just as easily have intended his remarks as a tacit denial that he is involved in the production in any capacity, and it's also equally possible that he was referring to an entirely different Star Wars project, instead.
One such project is the animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which is set to include Emperor Palpatine in its upcoming second season. The iconic villain only utters one line of dialogue in the recently released Bad Batch Season 2 trailer, but this was enough to confirm McDiarmid's participation in the show. Of course, the veteran thespian could also star in Obi-Wan Kenobi, however, neither Disney nor Lucasfilm has officially confirmed his involvement.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is currently streaming on Disney+, with new episodes arriving on Wednesdays.
