Disney+'s Ahsoka series will include multiple characters from Star Wars Rebels.
Shown during Star Wars Celebration 2022, the brief teaser offered a glimpse at characters set to be included in Ahsoka, albeit all from behind. It was confirmed that Hera Syndulla from Disney's animated series, Star Wars Rebels, would appear in Ahsoka alongside Rosario Dawson's titular character. It was also seemingly confirmed that another Rebels character, Chopper (aka C1-10P), would appear in the series as well after the droid itself appeared on stage during the panel. "You need to get back to set buddy," creator Dave Filoni said to Chopper. "You have a lot of work to do."
Also shown in the short teaser was another Star Wars Rebels character, Sabine Wren, who will be played in live-action by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, as well as a mural featuring the Rebels crew. It was confirmed that Bordizzo would portray Sabine in live-action in November 2021.
Created by Filoni, Carrie Beck and Simon Kinberg, Star Wars Rebels is an animated series produced by Lucasfilm Animation and set over a decade after the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005). Star Wars Rebels followed a group of rebels aboard the ship, Ghost. The crew consisted of Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus, the pilot Hera Syndulla, mechanic Chopper, Garazeb Orrelios, Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger and Jacen Syndulla. Rebels aired on Disney XD between 2014 and 2018. It also served as a successor to another animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which centered around Ahsoka Tano.
In a previous interview, director Bryce Dallas Howard, who has directed episodes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, shared that Ahsoka will satisfy fans of The Clone Wars, which aired for seven seasons between 2008 and 2020. "Without giving anything away, you are going to love the Ahsoka show that's coming up," she said. "I cannot tell you anything, but what I can say is that you being a fan of the Clone Wars will be greatly rewarded."
Rosario Dawson will portray Ahsoka Tano in live-action for the upcoming Disney+ series. She debuted as the live-action version of the character in The Mandalorian Season 2, Episode 5, "The Jedi," and reprised the role again for The Book of Boba Fett Season 1, Episode 6, "From the Desert Comes a Stranger." Developed by The Mandalorian creators Jon Favreau and Filoni, it was announced by Lucasfilm that Ahsoka would receive her own limited series in December 2020.
Ahsoka will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023.
