Premiering on April 10, the first season of 86 Eighty-Six was one of the highlights of the 2021 spring anime season, becoming one of the most popular modern mecha animes and garnering a large fanbase. With Season 2 scheduled for release later this year, many are eager for details, and a new trailer gives fans a preview of what to expect in the new season.
Like the first teaser, the new trailer features a more hardened and serious Lena, further indicating that the character has drastically changed since viewers last saw her. The transformation also hints at the consequences of Season 1's cliffhanger ending.
Moreover, the trailer confirms several new additions to the cast: Misaki Kuno (The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light, Ace Attorney) is voicing Frederica Rosenfort, Yūya Uchida (One Piece, Soul Eater) is playing Ernst Zimmerman and Asuna Tomari (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) is voicing Shiden Iida. The original voice cast from Season 1 is returning for Season 2 along with the creative team. Toshimasa Ishii (The Promised Neverland, Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia) is once again directing and Toshiya Ôno (Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, Princess Jellyfish) is continuing as the show's primary writer.
Season 2 of 86 Eighty-Six is scheduled to premiere Oct. 2, 2021 in Japan. Crunchyroll plans to simulcast the series as it airs.
